If you are new to the Gundam Card Game, welcome! Here is your guide to being a Pilot in the Gundam Card Game. Getting started with a new game and be overwhelming, but hopefully this guide can help you get up and running and more comfortable with the game.
Learning the Game
To learn the game, I highly recommend getting started with the GCG Tutorial App which is available on both the iOS App Store and Google Play Store. If you are on a computer, you can also go to GCG website to play the browser version.
If you are more into learning by watching a video, there is a video from Bandai.
Getting in Practice
There are several ways to get some practice with the game other than the GCG Tutorial App, here are some resources that people are using to get practice in online.
Web-Based Simulators
- MobileSuitArena – MobileSuitArena is a popular web-based simulator that allows you to play against real people online. It’s strength is a really clean UI and they just launched a Ranked Mode!
- WingTable – WingTable is a web-based simulator where you can test playing against AI opponents. Playing against AI is a good way to get started in playing your decks.
- Discord: Felt Table
App-Based Simulators
- GDSim – GDSim is one of the first major sims of the game that allowed you to play with people online so it definitely still has support around it. Check out their discord for their downloads and installation instructions.
- Discord: SmallIndieDiscord
- Tabletop Simulator – For those that use Tabletop Simulator for other games, you can also play Gundam Card Game with Tabletop Simulator. I personal don’t have it so I don’t have any experience with it.
- Addon: Gundam TCG (Scripted)
Find Where to Play
To find local game stores to play local tournaments for promo cards and competitions, you may want to download the Bandai TCG+ app, or sign up on the Bandai TCG+ website.
From there you will be able to find local events and stores where you can play against other users and earn promotional cards. Tournaments are generally classified as these:
Store Tournaments (Local)
Newtype Challenge
Championship (Offline Regional, Regional, Grand Finals)
Buying Cards
Generally speaking, you will be buying Starter Decks and Booster Packs. The Starter Decks contain cards that are not contained in the Booster packs, so often people buy at least 2 of each Starter deck to ensure they have a play set of each of the cards within the starter deck.
Other than buying packs and starter decks, a lot of people these days will prefer to buy singles of cards to build the deck they want. This can be a cost-effective way to get started with the game. This method allows you to just buy the cards that you are interested in and minimizing the amount of bulk cards you have.
Search through the Public Decks and you should be able to add all the cards in that deck to TCGPlayer to search for the cards you need and order them online.
Browse the Cards
Here on ZEROsystem, you can browse all the cards that have released information in our Card Browser. When you browse the cards, you can click on them to find more details about it. Easily find cards that can create Links and or Compatible links to utilize abilities.
Track your Collection
We also have a Card Collection section that you can utilize to keep track of your collection. This also allows you to later build a deck using only the cards in your collection.
Deck Building
We also have a Deck Builder on this site so you can build out decks, share them with friends, easily order any missing cards, and even share your card collection with a friend and have them help you build a deck with the cards in your collection.
Use import options to load a starter deck as a starting point, paste a text list of cards to import in, or even just start from scratch. If you click on a card to see the advanced details of card, you can also easily add synergy cards such as Linkable cards from that window.
Browse Public Decks
If you don’t know where to begin with making a deck, browse other Public Decks that people have shared, tournament archived decks, and Bandai created decks.
Once you find a deck that you want to start with, you can clone the deck and start making your own modifications to that deck to make it your own.
